Primary and secondary school students now have at their disposal an electronic tool that can help them study more efficiently, thanks to telecommunication’s company, FlOW.

The initiative was launched on Monday  24th October 2016 at the company’s Warrens, St.Michael, headquarters, with Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, endorsing the e-learning platform. Deeming it “another instalment in investment in our young people” here and the Caribbean, he said Barbados continues to be the number one learning society in the Caribbean and in Central America, if not the world. “We will continue with your help to push that agenda. We will continue as a small open economy to ensure that people will have the knowledge to interact or interface with anybody in the world, even if they speak another language… and again technology will help to do all of those things,” he said.

Mr. Jones further acknowledged that the island had spent a lot of time and other resources to make sure its people stood on the cutting edge to better equip its students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies to ensure they were able to deliver for self, family and country.    Stating that he saw Flow Study as a partnership, Mr. Jones expressed delight at the inclusion of STEM aspects, saying his ministry was trying to place greater emphasis on this in the school system.

FLOW’s Head of Product, Sharon Jemmott, in registering her satisfaction said: “Education is the cornerstone of our society and we are especially pleased to offer this value added service free of cost to our subscribers. The future of our company lies in the hands of our talented youth and we see our commitment in their education as a golden investment.” While noting Flow Study was the most comprehensive tool ever introduced in the Caribbean for secondary schools preparing for CSEC and CAPE, she said it extensively covered a variety of subject matters. Among these are: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Integrated Science, Biology, Management of Business, Principles of Business, Communication Studies, Caribbean Studies, Sociology and English Language. Ms. Jemmott further added that it allowed for parent involvement through its Parent Dash Board that lends itself to monitoring a child’s performance and results.

FLOW customers can visit www.flowstudy.co to register for a FLOW ID, where they can eventually access the online courses, question bank, past papers e-book, video past paper solutions, ‘cyberpeadia’ and virtual science labs. (JG/BGIS)
